Looking up from her deliberate state, she is off and running: a goat on a mission. In her mind, nothing will stop her. Arriving at her destination, she stretches as far as she can and then just a bit more. Her reward is the sweet succulent juice and taste of this wonderful fruit called apple. She does not know its name but her love for this wonderful taste is unwavering. In addition, she does not seem to care that her friends, who lingered far behind, receive a similar reward. For Millie, she loves being first but does not mind sharing this wonderful treat with her friends. Millie is definitely ViolenceFree and we can learn a lot about human behavior by watching her and her friends.
The most important thing to know about Millie, however, is not that she loves apples but that she loves life. She runs, she jumps, and she gives you kisses – Millie loves life.
Unfortunately, this was not always the situation for Millie and her friends. Millie, like so many others, lived in a place where human behavior was at its worst -- a place where she and so many other farmed animals were treated as commodities and not as sentient beings. When Mille was found at a Northern California slaughterhouse, she was bloodied and close to death. Fortunately, she was one of the lucky ones and was rescued.
We know there was a time when Millie screamed for help. She cried for her stolen babies. She wondered what had happened to her friends. Today, Millie is always happy and we never see her cry. Millie views life as endless possibilities and she is full of life and joy. SWIVL plans to keep it that way.
